Hey to all. My Volvo has an automatic transmission and about a year ago it began whining in 1st. The moment it changes into 2nd,the noise goes away. A year ago the agents recommended i replace the whole gearbox with a new one, saying my present one wont last. Was the gear oil changed you may ask.......

Can the car be driven in this state i.e with the light on?Planning on going on a 2000km round trip with the vehicle,but if its advisable not too,i will have to find an alternate solution.

ABS LIGHT ON - Hi guys,just when i thought i could smile again,the ABS light came on . Since installing the new BOSCH MAF sensor i've driven 40km. Today on my usual trip,the light popped up. Could it be associated with the previous problem ( MAF sensor ) . Kindly advise .

Hi to all from the sunny skies of Africa.
Installed the new MAF sensor,reset the the lights and took the car for a 20km drive.The light didn't re-appaer and drives better.Hopefully everything remains normal !

One last question before leaving : is it simple to install the MAF , or should i take it to a workshop ?
If its a simple home installation , is there something i should take care off not to do or touch.

Need to order the OEM MAF sensor,so its going to take time before i can report back on the fix.
Back here in Africa Volvo spares are real scarce.
