I had a similar issue. It was the seals around the fuel pump and sender unit leaking which is a common fault. This was was always worse when the tank was full as the seals are below the top level of the tank. Simple cheap repair, hopefully this is the problem. Good luck.

Finally got round to solving this. The issue was clearly both the fuel pump and sender tank seals leaking. Also the reason the smell was so strong within the cabin was because who ever replaced the fuel pump in the past did not replace the plugs on the body so vapours easily leaked into the cabin. 2...

Hi everyone. I went ahead and ordered new heavy duty spring seats from IPD which were delivered to Australia in just 1 week. What amazing service!

Engine problems solved by replacing the battery. Still haven't removed seats yet to inspect tank vapour leak. But... Nosing underneath the vehicle is looks like the rank tank can lowered from underneath. Has anyone tried this instead of pulling out the 2nd and 3rd row seats?

Sorry, should have clarified. 135k km not miles so roughly 88k miles. Looks like it should be ok for a while yet but may do it early anyway.
