Re: Rear suspension height question...
I’m not sure what kind of car you have but if it’s a P2 then it takes a 4 wheel alignment and that should take care of your positive camber if all is assembled correctly. In a totally different scenario I got the left and right control arm backwards on my F150 and had a ton of positive camber. As fa...

Re: 2001 V70XC - tie rod replacement Topic is solved
I used moog problem solver on mine recently. The inners were identical, and didn’t have the different thread. The outers also have grease fittings on them. I got them from advance, because I had a store credit there. It seems like I rented a tool from advance to install them, but it didn’t fit. I ju...

Re: Rear suspension height question...
One follow up question... What should the measurements be when you have tires and wheels on the ground? I thought I understood it should be 394 mm, or 384 in my case since I screwed up. But that’s not what I got. Also, is it possible that that would tighten up the rear end for possibly better, or wo...

And also, thank you oragex for the videos. Re: Seat interchange, swap, exchange
I can contribute this to the stitching discussion: I worked in quality control for a manufacturer that made the seats for Honda Odyssey mini vans. They outsourced the skins to a company in Mexico. Around the area where the air bag deploys, the stitching is indeed “different”, in that it is controlle...

Re: Rear spring installation
I had to make mine, and it’s makeshift, but it worked. I’m not familiar with the loaner thing here. What’s that? In my case, I had some scrap laying around that looked like the right length already, so I just welded a bolt onto each end so it could grab. I’ll try to get some pictures and dimensions ...

Rear suspension height question...
2001 V70 2.4T I just replaced all the control arm bushings in the rear end. When I was putting it back together, I read in the manual that before you torque the bolts, you have to put the suspension in the “normal” position. It said it was 394 mm from the wheel arch top to the center of the hub. Wel...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
Over the last month or so I have been working on a full suspension rebuild on my 01 V70. I have the rear end done already, and all the stuff on the front end, except subframe bushings and the front IPD sway bar. Today, I got the front sway bar in...upside down. So, it hits the tie rods. Here is a link to a thread where a guy says he did make the conversion. He says he went from a 5 speed auto, apparently in an AWD car, to a M56 from a FWD car. It’s the last post in the thread.

Did you Install a striker plate. Did you leave 15mm of space between the end of the spring and the raised portation of the control arm? See the attached replacement procedures. But about that 15mm, I tried to eyeball about 15, 10, 20, 50 and zero. ANYTHING to get it to stay. If I’m correct, 15 is i...

Re: 2005 XC70, XC90 front sway bar installed, 30635778, longevity?
Yes my car is FWD. So in my case a T5 rear sway bar might be a good upgrade, and you don't think the ipd's will last long. I assume it's the bushings that wear out?
You also mentioned replacement of your subframe bushings. What was your experience there? Been reading about that most of the day.

Re: Front end clunk... Anyone tried these ?
Make sure the sway bar end links are tight. Very tight. Very very tight. And check the engine3 mount, sway bar bushings as suggested. Problems with the subframe bushings are possible, but they are very rare while the other things mentioned are very common. Then you will have a problem undoing them....

I have the same problem on my 2001 V70 2.4T.
I looked through the junkyard the other day but the only ones they had have the gas tank button on the left. On my car, that button isn't there. It just has the fog light button and where the gas door button is, it's just blank.
Will it still work?

Re: 2001 V70 2.4T inconsistent startup issues
I'm not the best mechanic in the world, but i also have a 2001 2.4T. If any of the intercooler pipes are loose, the engine will die right away. I had a lot of problems out of the pipe that goes over the engine. The couplers more specifically. Make sure the ends on those aren't deteriorated and leaki...

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
I just wanted to update this thread with the final solution. The problem was indeed with the alternator. On the back of the alternator where the battery wire hooks up, there are two posts. On mine they are labeled B1+ and B2+. On the B1+ post, you hook your battery wire. The other post is unused. Ho...

XC90 T6 AWD
Hello to all, I have been reading the forum here for years while i've owned an 01 V70 2.4T. Great site. I have some questions about an XC90 T6. Fist off I realize the answers to all my questions can be found by searching the forum. However, in this case an opportunity to buy (2) 2003 XC90 T6 AWD has...

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
Thanks again for the reply. And a big thank you for your homework. I really appreciate your time. I've been working and otherwise busy the last couple days and haven't been on the forum or messed with the car much. I never use my volt meter so I couldn't find it of course. So I let the batteries cha...

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
Ok. Thanks again. I did search the P80 forum and read some about it but didn't find any pictures. When I look at mine, I don't see the white plastic cap you were talking about.

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
I installed the battery from my truck last night and was able to crank it and drive it the rest of the way home. It was raining, so I didn't get to rest voltage etc yet. I will try that tonight or tomorrow

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
Thank you abscate. I will search the P80 forum after work tonight, and look for it on the car tomorrow. I'm assuming you mean the fuse panel under the hood on the drivers side right? Of course on this car the battery is in the back, so that would be a long wire. Is it the same to just touch the wire...

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
any chance conductivity will improve enough that I don't have to do anything as long as I keep the battery on it? I don't remember if I mentioned it in my op, but I started the job, life happened and it took me about 3 months, maybe less, to do it. Battery disconnected the whole time.

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
Also as far as a spare battery, I could use the one from my truck if that's okay. They're different somehow, my truck is normal but I think the Volvo battery is like a side vent or something because its used inside the vehicle and not under the hood. That okay?

Re: Electrical problems after repair Topic is solved
Thank you oragex. I have a volt meter but haven't had a chance to verify the voltage. It should be about 14.4 at idle with accessories right? Measured at the battery? I have checked those connections at the battery and the alternator, as well as back at the fuse panel where I removed the harness con...

2001 V70 Electrical problems after repair, loose alternator screw Topic is solved
Hello, thank you for reading and helping. 2001 V70 2.4T 227k Miles, I've owned it 11 years and have done all my own repairs, in large part because of posts here on mvs. Great site. Recently I completed a large repair job. Timing kit, pcv cleaning (not due for changing), Ac compressor clutch plate sh...
