:?: I have a 1996 850 that is having issues when it shifts gears. Car has 160,000 Km's ( 100,000 miles ) on it. I very strongly feel that I have one or more of the those solenoid valves that is sticking or leaking or some such thing. The question is....CAN these be taken out and replaced with new on...

Now here is a question I really do not know...the engine block is the same for the 10 valve and 20 valve engine....RIGHT...? Now since this is 10 valve...can one put a 20 valve head on this engine....or is there something different about it that would make this not work. just wondering is all...

Yes I do live in Canada, however just because I do does not mean we live in a -300c ice box....! Where I live winters are often around 0c ( 32f ) and a few times it got really cold and we hit -10c for a few days. If I go according to the Volvo oil chart, I can use 15W40 all year round in most cases....

Here is the question I see that the manual says I can use 15W40 oil....now the question is...can I use 15W40 DIESEL MOTOR oil in a Volvo 5 cylinder GAS engine....? I would say YES in that diesel motor oils have more additives in it for soot and acids and so on making it a better oil for keeping thin...

I have a 1996 Volvo 850 and while I do not have all the tools....I have figured out that for some reason the torque converter " IS " locking up for a brief moment when shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd as well. HOWEVER....once the engine and trans is fully heated up it runs nice...
