The rear diff leak is probably just the main seal. The driveshaft will throw oil along way. I'm sure there is a video on YouTube on how to replace those seals. Is the battery dead form trying to start it while out of gas?
I'd add a little more gas and charge the battery or get a boost.
Always check your fuses first.

I would suspect the CPS as well. Check that it is installed into the block properly. Also Check the confection at the plug for corrosion and connection. Look for worn wires while you are at it.

Get yourself a code reader. If you spend about $100 you will get one that is good enough to accurately point out the problems. Thanks! I've been trying to remember to turn the fan knob to off each time I shut the car off. Just in case... I was thinking it was a computer malfunction.
