Location of ECU in a 2002 S40

I'm sending off my ECU for an Upsolute chip upgrade. Problem is I can't locate any information about where this component is located on my S40. All the posts I've found here and else where are for the 2.4L five cylinder, not the 1.9L Turbo in my 2002. I assume it's under the dash somewhere but befor...

Re: Faulty Fuel Gauge

Thanks, Al. I appreciate your sharing your experience with installing and then being disappointed by a cheaper part. I've fallen victim to this on more than one occasion so I now do as you suggest and get the factory part unless an aftermarket one is from a known manufacturer like Mann, etc.

Faulty Fuel Gauge

My fuel gauge in my 2002 S40 just went bonkers. It is stuck at the 3/4 full mark and does not move as I drive and consume fuel. I can limp along for now by watching my elapsed miles and conservatively calculating my fuel consumption so I don't go empty without warning. Of course, it's much better to...

Leather Seats for S40

Looking to replace my OEM cloth seats in 2002 model with leather seats. Should I source from a local junk yard? Anyone have a suggestion for how to proceed assuming this is possible.

Thanks,

Ray

Correct. I see the Heico are only available for more current years of S40 (i.e. 2006+). Mine is a 2002.

Re: New Shocks and Springs Recommendation

Thanks for your reply. I have used Shox.com some years back when I had a Mini Cooper JCW. Bought set of Koni FSD shocks from them. I'll check out the Heico springs. Your 2007 S40 is probably close enough to my 2002 in the suspension dept. to make for a good comparison.

Re: 12V Battery for a 2002

Tell us what you find out...I'm thinking that even in the summer, that's not going to be enough cranking power. I'd just run jumper cables to your own cables to begin with instead of lifting out and in your car to see if it works. Is the size relatively similar? Yes, fairly close. I'll keep you pos...

New Shocks and Springs Recommendation

I have one broken rear spring on my 2002 S40. I plan to replace both rear springs and was wondering if anyone has experience with slightly stiffer and lower than stock springs in his or her S40. I was considering Eibach, H&R, Koni or something like that vs. the standard Bixstein's and OEM spring...

Re: 12V Battery for a 2002

My default mode is "jump right in and do it", but I was trying to use the collective noggin before pulling the trigger. LOL. I'll probably just do it unless I get a sudden onslaught of "you'll fry your ECU" posts.
