It's time to give our 2006 2.5T xc90 (220,000kms / 134000miles )a birthday...

Here's the list:
Replace strut upper bearings/mounts
Replace AC Condenser (got a slow leak)
PCV service (I seem to have crankcase pressure)
Engine mounts, Front and right hand engine mounts are faulty ...

I'm still procrastinating on investigating this issue, but in a moment of distraction, looking for some verification of my theory of what's wrong, and a way to assemble without damaging the seal rings, I came across a really good rebuild manual. I'll paste the link here, hopefully it will help ...

I used VIDA/DICE to turn the "dehumidify" feature off. Just makes me nervous having a fan running full speed consuming battery power when the engine isn't running! I'm sure it has caused me to need my wife to rescue me from a carpark once. All it takes is a battery that isn't quite up to the task ...

Ok, so I've serviced the system on a 2002 XC70...

Found the hose to the banjo bolt on the intake manifold clogged. Everything else tested OK with air. That plastic hose is certainly fragile, it ended up in a few pieces, so I simply replaced with vacuum hose.

Also, major oil leak turned out to be ...

Wow! There really is nothing to it. Should be pretty easy to flush out.

I think I'll just get some rubber stoppers then fill with solvent, soak and shake, shake, shake.

ok... time for an update on this job. I've been doing it in my spare time, which I don't have much of, so it's taken a long time.

1. Bought a 2nd hand drum from a USA AT dismantler. was very impressed with condition.
2. Bought a Frictions / Steels / Seals / filter kit from Chinese supplier on ...

I think there's only one issue left unanswered...

What is actually inside the oil trap / separator box, has anyone ever cut one open? I'm guessing it just some sort of coalescer.

Can it be cleaned? I'm thinking soak in petrol, shake lots, flush out, blow out, maybe ...
