I do not want to question what you are doing, but what other problems does your car have?
You said the ABS light is on, any other lights?
It may be something else causing your speedo to stay dead, not necessarily poor wiring.

I could be wrong though.

I changed the tran fluid again yesterday as well as the oil.

The puttering sound sounds just like my V70 right after I changed the fuel filter and there was still air in the line. Not sure if that is of any worth, just a familiar sound to me. Could the injectors be in question?

If it is the MAF, then it could be a fairly easy quick fix!
