Alternator dead and needs replacing—fun! Existing/dead alternator is 140 Amp but I’m seeing that a replacement 160 Amp is also available. Good thing? Bad thing?

Also—is it possible that the pulley itself has gone bad (instead of the alternator) and that’s what’s causing the dead battery?
