2010 - XC60 T6 - New to Me

I just purchased a this vehicle with about 136K on it. Will be a gift for my daughter. There are a couple things that I would like to sort out prior to giving her the car. Any guidance would be appreciated. 1. Turn signal stalk - the push button at the end of stalk does not work. Generally, I have t...

Re: V70 vs. V70R

Thank you for your comments. You confirmed my decision to stop bidding on the car when it hit $3,000. I figured tax, auction fee, sorting out and registration fees could easily add up to more than the car is worth. The Carfax report was sparse so I assume that the car was taken to a shop that doesn’...

V70 vs. V70R

I have two volvos now. An'08 S80T6 with 94,000 miles and an extremely basic '98 V70 with 120,000 miles. I've found a '98 V70R with about 150,000 miles. Runs but has an ABS light, TRAC light and check engine light on. Body seems pretty good for a 23 year old car. If I purchase the V70R, one of the ot...

IPD/FCPEuro, Evaporators & Abandoned Volvos

Going to cover a couple topics here. I've always been etremely happy with IPD for my previous Volvos but have been on the FCP Euro site recently and they seem to have more selection as well as better explantion of the companies who make their after-market parts. Does anyone have a strong reason to p...

Evaporator: Volvo or After Market

Thinking about getting rid of my ‘12 Genesis and turning my ‘98 V70 into my daily driver. Will need to make the a/c on my V70 operational to do this. Suspect it needs an evaporator. IPD shows two on their site. One is Volvo genuine parts for over $400 the other aftermarket for $100-$150. Thoughts on...

Re: New to Me 98 V70

Thank you both for your replies. Appreciate it! This care drives so well and with cloth interior is incredibly comfortable. Going to sort out the A/C and brake issues to determine whether this will be a four season vehicle or just a winter driver for my wife when she parks her MB convertible. Have a...

New to Me 98 V70

After a year without a Volvo, I bought one yesterday. This car was ordered for the U.S. market buy seems strange to me as it is beyond basic. Three things I've seen so far the strike me as unusual: 1. Cloth seats that are manually adjustable. 2. The A/C is purely manual. No way to set the temp and f...

Re: Fuel Pump Woes

Fixed! For some reason I was only getting 8.5 volts at the fuel pump connector. Suspected that I needed a better ground. Bought a female bullet connector, attached a wire to it and plugged it into the male bullet connector that was part of the new pump assembly. Scratched some paint off the car to g...

Re: Fuel Pump Woes

Mechanic checked air and spark before diagnosing fuel pump.

Turns over well.

Battery charged.

Car runs for a few seconds on carb cleaner.

Was not sitting at all. Is my son’s daily driver. One morning it would not start
