Re: Intermittent stalling issues after heavy boost.
Okay. I did all of this recently and it happened again one time. I also noticed recently that under heavy load, I get a Service Light flash and a misfire for piston 3. It does not store, only pends. Yet it only happens under heavy load. I recently replaced the plugs and the filter, and even ran a di...

Re: 2003 S40 Radio switch from OEM to Aftermarket
Okay, I know this is a little late, but I figured I'd post here to have the information handy on MVS, and considered Crutchfield seems to be charging for diagrams, here you go. I had to do a bit of searching, and never did find the actual correct diagram for my head unit. I'm pretty sure I reference...

Intermittent stalling issues after heavy boost.
Hey guys, Boosted40 here again. So, recently, I've noticed an issue after cleaning the MAF on my 2002 Volvo S40 1.9T. It's only got 126k-ish on it, and has been taken care of quite well. So here's the symptoms, sometimes after heavy throttle usage, then letting off quickly, the car has stalled or dr...

Which head unit did you have? I just did my 02 S40, switched from a HU-615. Thanks.

Yeah, after the oil seeps down, you may get non optimal numbers. I might suggest squirting a small amount of oil on the walls around the piston and then waiting for a minute or two to see if the oil stays or if you have actual bad compression.

Re: Lifter Noise
I did a little more digging and apparently the 02 S40 motor is solid lifter setup. To solve this issue would be to measure clearances and order new tappets accordingly. Aka valvetrain adjustment. I might recheck the noise today, but I'm just about positive it's partially valvetrain noise. A little p...

Lifter Noise
Hello. I'm creating this thread in hopes that someone may help. Long story short. I have been researching solutions for lifter tap or tick. My 2002 S40 has it at 125k+ miles and I would like to get rid of it if at all possible. It seems to be a bit much for the mileage. I was considering some Seafoa...

I forgot to add the car should be on and in P when checking. I made the mistake of not doing this and thought I overfilled.

Re: Please help me read the transmission dipstick... Am I being an idiot?
Add 400mL and see if it helps! I had a Mercedes with an automatic that shifted entirely wrong when filled "correctly" on the dipstick and entirely right when I added a little extra. (More precisely, I'd added the correct amount per the service manual and it read a quart and a half too hig...
