Re: what temp is overheating?

i am using a pre mixed product anti freeze anti boil. Arnt all the caps pressure vented? its green in colour. They typically are if they aren't broken. But you would need to test the cap to know for sure that it works. However a broken cap that won't hold any pressure shouldn't be a problem until t...

Re: what temp is overheating?

There are several factors to consider. 1. What mixture of Ethylene Glycol to water are you using (lets assume 50/50) 2. Are you using a pressure relieving radiator cap (lets assume 12 PSI) 50/50 mix without a pressure cap boils at 107 C 50/50 mixture with a 12 psi cap boils at 127 C For my LR2 (a P3...

Re: possible fix for slow tire leak

20 PSI in less than 20 hours is a lot. Remove the tire/wheel and inspect carefully. Check for leaks at the bead by laying it flat an applying soapy water. Turn it over and check the other side. Assuming that you changed the valve stem and tire three times with no improvement (I think that's what you...

Re: One way clutch or pulley?

Patrick, I do like my Volvo and my JLR. The belt replacement on the XC90 is slightly different than S80 or LR2 Take a look at this link https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic33363.html The start of that thread is for doing the work on a LR2 and further down a XC90 3.2 owner shared some tips Take care Pa...

Re: Common Issues With V70s, XC70s? Looking To Purchase Pre-Owned

The P3 Volvo is a really nice car. And I agree that the S80 is a good choice if you don't need a wagon. In fact I bought a 2010 S80 3.2 with 125,000 miles on the odometer 2 years ago I have a thread about what I've done to the S80 since I bought it Based on my S80 experience I recommend the followin...

Re: One way clutch or pulley?

Patrick, The bracket on my 2008 LR2 is slightly different than the bracket on my 2010 S80 I marked my bracket (before removing it) to make sure it went back to the same location The pictures are from the LR2 but I did the same process on my 2010 S80 (I might have picture somewhere, the difference is...

Re: 2020 parts cost inreview, exec summary 5 cents per mile

5 Cents per mile is amazing. Thanks for pointing out that on a new car depreciation cost is extremely high. (I've been trying to explain this to my wife and kids) Right now I also own 5 cars with the oldest being almost 13 years old. (5 cars and 5 drivers to be exact) And I plan to keep these same 5...

Re: Brake caliper binding/sticking after hard braking

I was confused by your brake line vs. brake hose reference also. Your system is getting stuck and acting as a check valve. Master Cylinder - if the piston doesn't make it back past the port for the reservoir then it will act as a check valve Test: lock up the brake and tap the master cylinder with a...

Re: Brake caliper binding/sticking after hard braking

If you use a wheel bearing grease then you will need to replace the bushings on the caliper when you switch to Silaramic (or something similar)
