Replaced a 3 y/o PCV crankcase breather tube (URO kit) with genuine Volvo and then dug in to my used (eBay) power steering pump. All went well, no leaks but many bruises. Just shy of 250K.

Power steering pump is toast (see video). Left side pump is used, purchased on eBay. Right is the old fried pump which would barely turn and explains the poor steering performance and weird smells. Installed the used pump today and works great!. Only PITA is removing the bolt on the back side ...

Level is correct and its been a while since flushed.

My PS pump is making a hiss/grinding noise like a bad bearing, not the typical whining when turning the steering wheel (see video). The pulley has a slight wobble and looks like the only bearing would be in the pump itself.

FYI...IPD's "discount" cost for genuine Volvo replacement PCV parts are nearly identical to FCP Euro's list/sale price. Going with FCP for this and other reasons.

IPD responded to my email and said that they apologize for the trouble/bad part and will discount any replacement parts. Fair enough since my kit was out of warranty.

Over the years I've relied on member opinions regarding Genuine Volvo vs OE replacement part manufacturers. I'm a little disappointed to find my PCV tubes are cracked and leaking air/oil after 13K miles?. Purchase the kit from IPD and expected more life or is this a fluke? I don't need to be ...
