I have a 2000 S70 and have noticed that the front two wheels get so dirty and dusty after washing it and being on the road for several days. The rear ones stay quite clean. I've noticed other Volvos and European cars have the same problem. What is the exact problem and do you have any solutions?
Thanks!

Soft brake pads are the problem. You can go to the aftermarket for pads but there can be problems with squelling with some brands.
I have had good sucess with the NAPA ceramic pad. The rear pad has NAPA's version of the anti-vibration shim to prevent squeeling. The fromt pad comes with their version of the springs and hardware that goes with the pads. There is almost no dust and they do not squeel. The ceramic will also last 2 to 3 times longer than OEM pads and they have a higher friction drag so that they can stop the car quicker.
The ceramic pad is a harder material. If your rotors are worn at all you need to replace them when ceramic pads are first put on. There is also a break in that needs to be followed or you will have problems with the ceramics. Due to the harder material you will have higher pad and disc temperatures. Higher temps can warp rotors. When you come to a stop leave a little extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you and every 30 seconds move about a foot forward. This will help keep the temp even around the rotor and help eliminate the chance of warping a disk.
Cheers,
T

What about the P21S products? I hear that brand and Megeuir's (sp?) work to reduce the amount of brake dust on the rims.
Also, does anyone know anything about chrome playing rims?
