Trouble starting 850, need suggestions

Fuel rail check valve?

Is the fuel rail run along the valve cover? I cannot locate the valve you refer to.

It's just in front (as you stand looking at the engine) of the oil filler cap, hidden under an aluminum piece that pops out.

It's the shiny metal bit between the filler cap and the intake manifold in this picture:

yes, the fuel rail is the shiny rail in between the intake manifold and the valve cover. The schrader valve is underneath a screw-on cap at the end of the rail, nearest to the air cleaner.
