ETS dash light caused by broken negative battery ground - 99 s70 na

Post by smacknab »

Wasn't sure where to put this but I had my ETS light come on and I knew previously I had a broken battery ground (the big one underneath the starter). Per Abscate's advice I pulled the cable, striped it and crimped the lug all at a marine store for about $6 and the light is cleared. Abcate said he found evidence of another person who had the same problem and mentioned that ground cables are important for the non-turbo cars.

The cable has two two leads. The bigger one runs to the starter and has two wire holders, one underneath the battery tray and another just down and to the right of the starter. I was able to swap it without jacking up the car or pulling any air hoses. The smaller lead to loops under the battery tray and bolts down infront of the battery.

Wanted to post in case someone was googling for their ETS light.

Awesome fix. The voltages in an ETB are really sensitive
