99 s70t5 negative battery terminal

Post by L8ydrgn »

Just got the car back from the shop and its having starting issues. I noticed that there is a fresh threaded(meaning like something is missing) hose/wire piece on top of the negative battery cable, what goes on here?

They use that stud for accessories on the positive terminal, but I don't
think that I've ever seen anything attached to that stud on the negative post.
I suspect that it's been like that since it left the factory and you have a
different problem. What are your starting issues?

Jump start got the car going but the battery is pretty new and shouldn't be dead. Maybe alternator? Car went into the shop because it's randomly losing power/torque and the speedometer randomly stops working.

Sounds like it might be time to replace the battery cables. The one to the fusebox from the battery is known for "flaking out" with age when it heats up.

Checking all grounds for loose connections wouldn't hurt either.
