0930-1130 report today

New Orings and attached Dryer and suction hose to compressor, with new hardware
Trick - take the 27 mm union nut to tightness (cant rotate hose) then back off one 1/2 of a flat so you can nip it tight when done. Its not a flare, the o-ring does the seal work

Installed high pressure side, new orings, new bolt
Dont forget the plate to hold the dryer mount

Dont forget to put on \the forward plate on the evap hoses before connecting the hard lines, then add the two plastic keeper washers, teeth facing forward too.

you can bend the evap lines 5-6 mm to get a straight push on the hard line to seal it up.

2 hours this morning electrical connections, securing stuff, coolant connections, and got motor running.

Finishing inside as I charged AC, heard the compressor cycling, then steady on.

Acheived 40F delta (RECIRC, fan speed 3, 2000 rpm) and 35F delta on outside air ambient 86F

It felt darn good.

More job tips

Silicone spray the ECU cooling air pipe on both parts before install, much easier. Install rear part first , the the front part.

I forgot to nip the final torque on the dryer so had to pull the m6 bolt to raise the dryer enough

A 27 mm crows foot or 1 1/16” Imperial would work there but clearance is tight. Maybe from underneath?

Next time will remove ETM gas pedal and complete bulkhead heater pipe assembly and install after HVAC replacement. I think it’s way too easy to put torque on this pipes and break the bulkhead fitting, a $150 event

Across the street.

This is impressive.

Start car, back into street.
50myards to first stop sign
Turn right
150 yards to next stop sign
Cool air is pouring from vents.

One last gaffe.

I tucked the two antenna wires into the climate unit and then trapped them when I put the dash back in. Luckily just had to loosen a couple of screws and ease dash back 1 cm to free them up
