No Communication with srs on vida, s70 2000

Hello!
I have bought a Chinese dice to erase an airbag code because bad connection under the passenger seat, but my vida doesn’t communicate with the SRs module… it communicates with everything else? Any ideas why?

I have vida 2014d installed
Volvo s70 2000

Hello Joel and welcome to MVS. It might be your DiCE clone. viewtopic.php?p=451283&hilit=dice+commu ... le#p451283 In that thread the user has a similar situation.

Because you bought that unit I would suspect you don't know anyone near you with a DiCE unit so that you can try theirs and thus do an A/B test between the two...

Or pay a dealer for an hours diagnostic and a reset. That way you should find out if your car has another issue or if it is your Dice clone. Strangely, I have issues with my 10+ year old Dice clone recently not connecting to some cars and being fine with others. It will just not connect with some cars at all. I also have had issues with my newer laptop with the Boot & Go external SSD with Chrome and Win10. I have yet to confirm if the issue it the newer 2014D. I have not had the opportunity to try the older laptop with Win7 Pro, IE9 and Vida 2014A.

I could not get the newer system to connect to the C30 challenge initially at all, then after some electrical clean up it would work but not allow me to do live data scanning.

Probably sounds crazy but worth a try: turn the ignition key to position I and then back off ten times at a normal speed then see if it connects to the SRS.

I have an iCarSoft V2.0 scanner.

On my kids 2002 S60 it has a failed SRS module. Code was something like ‘internal fault’, requiring replacement. eBay replacement I got was configured for a V70, not S60, so wouldn’t work for me.

I don’t know if this changed by 2000, but I had the same issue with my 99 three years ago. I bought the VIDA laptop with Mongoose JLR cable from Diagnostic Laptops. Swore it would read, diagnose, and reset the SRS module/light. It would not. When I’d click on anything to do with SRS it would display a dialog box with something like “no comm with SRS module”. I posted here about it, got some suggestions and empathy and finally someone posted back that the 99’s DO NOT communicate with SRS module on VIDA. Just recently a long time Volvo mechanic and new friend of mine confirmed that the 99’s will only communicate with modules in front of the DIM. That leaves out the SRS module and numerous others. I finally bought an Autel MD 806(?). Which read and reset the SRS module after fiddling with the infamous pink and green connectors under the seats. And all was good.

If you study the 99 v70 wiring diagram, the schematic of the SRS module shows no CAN connection. I’d noted that early on but took a while to understand the lack of comm to the DIM where the VIDA ties into the CAN bus I guess.
