S70 -99 water problems?

Post by DeadMeat »

Hello.
My Volvo S70 GLT -99 sometimes won't start after washing it, or sometimes even after a heavy rain...
The starter motor and thus the engine turns, occasionally igniting a cylinder, but it won't start.
All I can do is wait the problem out, and it works when it's dried up. (not a very good solution)

I presume this is some ignition-electrical issue... But what can be done about it? Is water crawling up the engine from below? or what? This should not happen because of just some rain, something must be wrong here right? Aren't all the vital parts of the ignition system fully water protected?

I'd appreciate any help and tips! :)

An update; the card wouldnt start with jumper cables either(sporadically igniting a cylinder here and there), but we managed to start it by towing... Then it ran just like normal.

But now a few days later, all charge has escaped the battery during the night, so no when they ignition key is turned, nothing at all happens.
Kinda frustrating. I guess we'll have to take it to a Volvo repair shop to have it looked at...!
