Yes, some info about the smaller vac line is tucked away in the same follow-up post where I suggest re-using the oil trap: Use 5/16 vacuum line for the nipple on the intake manifold. This will be a little big for the nipple at the flame trap, so make sure you have a clamp to tighten it down well at that end. But don't break the fragile, plastic nipple! Generic rubber vacuum hose is great in this application, and cheap.

For the oil trap line, one of the things talked about in that long thread is that the vent has to make a 90˚ bend and there is some risk of cheap heater hose collapsing, a few people have posted about that problem. I would suggest using fuel line or a heavy heater hose. Or even just buy a heater hose that is pre-formed with a 90˚ angle in it, I did one that way last spring, the only catch was I had to use RTV silicone to seal the flame trap housing, I don't remember if that was because the housing was in bad shape already or because of the angle of the heater hose:

Sounds like a plan. The guy I helped has a insulated attached garage and a nice heater in there. I was very comfortable. Today I think it only got up to 27 degrees in Clarksville OH.

Took about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Likely my fastest time ever. Dropped a couple of bits, pulled the manifold a couple of times, etc.

The KIT from FCP had different parts than what came off:
1. The smaller box was sent.
2. The straight hose was sent (so the smaller box was fine).
3. The hose from the box to the top of the head was different. Went between 1 & 2 instead of 2 & 3. (No big deal I guess).
4. Extra parts not needed.

At any rate, all went well and smooth. The lower port was blocked and a few pieces were broken. Now it has vacuum on the head instead of pressure. So, all is well.

I got an email from FCP saying that the order was shipped on Wednesday (two days after I placed the order) via ground (I paid for 2 day). Instead of the parts arriving Thursday, they were supposed to arrive next week. To make a long story short, they're overnighting a second kit on Friday, and they credited my the shipping costs. I really appreciate that they so promptly came up with a solution, because the parts were to arrive so late that I wouldn't have been able to get the repair done.
Robert, did you use the 850T300 kit as well? Also, is it required to remove the injectors? I've looked at several tutorials, and it appeared that some did and some did not. The injector rail appears to go into the intake manifold, so can I disconnect the fuel rail and injector wires, then leave the rail on the manifold?

Yes, you can leave the fuel rail attached to the manifold after disconnecting the injector wire and fuel line.

I do NOT remove the rail or the injector wires (on the na cars). I swing it a little over to the drivers side of the car, all in tack. I disconnect the fuel line that comes over the top of the motor near the timing belt cover. You only need to get the manifold out of the way enough to gain access to the box.

Awesome, that's one less step/potential complication. Thanks for the help everyone! I hadn't expected for this thread to get so big.

If you are sick with 102 fever, you should postpone the repair until you are perfectly healthy. This is a lot of physical work. Things look simple theoretically.

Well, all the parts just arrived. Upon inspecting everything, I realized that although the oil trap arrived as did the small silver hose that goes onto the block, 1271771 DID NOT show up with the kit. Given that this is the other oil trap, I assume the one that is on the car currently will not fit. I guess time to figure out how I'm going to handle that.

Call your local Volvo dealer to see if they have it in stock.
This was why I suggested that you come up with your own list of items.
These kits are not only over-priced, they either have some stuff you don't want and also don't have stuff you need.
