Yes, some info about the smaller vac line is tucked away in the same follow-up post where I suggest re-using the oil trap: Use 5/16 vacuum line for the nipple on the intake manifold. This will be a little big for the nipple at the flame trap, so make sure you have a clamp to tighten it down well at that end. But don't break the fragile, plastic nipple! Generic rubber vacuum hose is great in this application, and cheap.eriscentro wrote:... I saw that my local autozone sells the 5/8 hose for that price. When substituting heater hose for 9125598, what size hose is used for the smaller vacuum line? It likely was mentioned inside the thread regarding the substitution ...
For the oil trap line, one of the things talked about in that long thread is that the vent has to make a 90˚ bend and there is some risk of cheap heater hose collapsing, a few people have posted about that problem. I would suggest using fuel line or a heavy heater hose. Or even just buy a heater hose that is pre-formed with a 90˚ angle in it, I did one that way last spring, the only catch was I had to use RTV silicone to seal the flame trap housing, I don't remember if that was because the housing was in bad shape already or because of the angle of the heater hose:
