Strut Brand Choice Help

Post by outdoor7or24 »

Volvo drivers, what brand of strut do you recommend?

I am mostly doing hwy and city driving. Mostly looking for something that does not shake the dash so bad when going over bumps in the road and gives a plusher ride than what I have now.

Should I stick with Boge or TC Bilsteins?
Are the Koni's yellows or FSD's going to give me a smoother ride that the Boge or TC Bilsteins? Is the cost ~ $200 more ~ worth the ride improvement?

I just have a rough ride in the 1995 855 180k's and I have replaced the rear with TC Bilsteins. The 1995 855 rides much rougher than my friends 2001 v70. I am sure some age has something to do with this.

When I replace the struts I will upgrade to the xc90 spring seats and maybe change the mount bearing if it needs it.

So, what is your vote? (w/ Factory springs and no lowering involved)

Any thoughts?
Spend the money on the Koni's or just get the Boge/Bilstein TC's?

Here's a shocks thread with a ton of info. I think you're going to end up with Boge if you want nice ride, not harsh.
