Volvo Repair Database 1997 850 Help locating vacuum hose

Post by PeterBlocks »

Hi, I'm new here. Just found the site a few weeks ago and it has been very helpful so far. I just replaced my upper motor mount via instructions from the site and in the process I noticed a vacuum hose was detached from the air filter box. When I tried to reattach it the other end came off from where it was attached(somewhere near the flame trap) and I can't locate where it came from. I searched around the site but could not figure it out from the other posts I found. Also my car is not a turbo. Any help would be great.

Thanks

I am not familiar with your model, however look on the inside of the hood , normally left hand side when facing the car and you should find a sticker with the vacuum diagram. Best bet is to take a pic and blow it up and then pour over it to decipher.......of course if you have no sticker all this is a waste of time and some other member may post it for you

My best guess is actually under the battery tray.........anybody! Connecting to to the pump underneath!

Hopefully Misha sees this, he has the vacuum controlled airbox thermostat and posted up some pictures last week of the upper end connections. My N/A cars have the old wax cylinder style so I can be of no help. VADIS is worthless in this regard as well.

The pump under the battery tray is the cruise control pump and the open nipple is supposed to be there, with nothing attached.

Thanks for the quick response and info. Yeah I agree that the hose probably does not connect under the battery tray since its only about a foot long and would not reach around to that area. I took off the hose leading into the flame trap where the small vacuum hose seemed to come from but could find nothing that looked like a nipple or a connector in that area. Still looking...

Well there must be an exposed nipple somewhere....
I am thinking superbowl ...... someone would have noticed by now. Well I digress, perhaps then below the vacuum tree if nothing on the tree is missing, like on the manifold.

As i can see it's a black vacuum hose and it's connected at opposite lower side of air box housing. But if i remember well, there is no rubber elbow at that side, like at top behind. The lower side connection is more like some kind of clip(which looks like some kind of elbow),but not rubber.

If you need picture i'll post you tommorow.

Pinned in the repair database. This has come up many times with no real good answers.

Thank you Misha.
