Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Ok. So Ive had this code since I purchased the car a few months back and after reading about this one elbow that fails on everyone, I set out looking for it but couldnt find it until I grabed the flash light and looked under the power steering pump....low and behold I found this little booger
Its completely ruined so I need to get another one ASAP. So Im ordering a few but
Now. Where does it go? I cant seem to find where it went.

Second one, part #9155862. You don't need to remove the coolant hose if you have the dexterity of an elf. Otherwise, it helps. I used a clamp on both ends because it repeatedly blew off one side or the other.

So for clarification its the nipple circled in this this pix
Imasking b/c the elbow in my pix does not look big enough to fit over that nipple. I tried last night to see if that where it went, and it went inside b4 it went over.

I discovered that the cap from a Sharpie fits on the hole on the intake perfectly and lodges itself against the power steering bracket. Obviously its not good long term, but It will stop the code and get you your gas mileage back until you have the time\money\parts to fix it proper,

Just took a look, looks like the larger side of the elbow is still attached and the smaller end somehow, dry rotted or w/e, and broke away from the larger side of the elbow. Is there a foam insulation that covers the vacuum running under threre? B/c I can see an insulation of some sort on the line connecting to the broken elbow.

We're talking about the same one. The line to the elbow from behind the engine does indeed have a foam insulation sleeve (that makes it even harder to work with, grrr).
And yes, your elbow does look like the fatter end rotted off the rest of it. The part # I gave you is the one you want.

Sweet, thanks Matthew, you were right, it came in yesterday and I got it on but not after fighting w/ the foam insert which I got impatient with and pulled the vacuum line to far out and tore the elbow on the other end of the vacuum line at the throttle body.LMAO So I got it on and went up to my local Volvo Specialist and he stocks all the elbows and sold me one for $5. So its all buttoned up now, the light didnt go away on its own after letting the car run for a few minutes. So I pulled off the cable and reset everything, it hasnt come back and Im hitting the road tomorrow so I guess thats the real test.
