I replaced my throttle plate with a flat one from a 960 for my 98 s70. After reinstalling the throttle body, when I start the car it runs terrible. The rpms go way up and the car idles very rough. No codes or anything are coming up. I haven't even tried driving it yet it is so bad. I think I replaced the plate correctly so it seats like the old one did. I replaced the gasket. I am thinking I must have not put the plate in correctly? Any ideas? Thanks. I forgot to mention. When I was putting the plastic hose that attaches the throttle body to the maf back, it ripped slightly. Could this cause so much of a problem?
Here is how the plate looks in the throttle body. It looks okay to me from looking at how others have done it.

If the hose between the throttle body and the MAF is torn, then air is getting in that the MAF is not metering. That would make the car run rough. How big is the tear in that hose?
Is your car a turbo or a non-turbo?

It would be an N/A, the turbo throttle plate is different and doesn't have the plastic obsruction. I did the actual modification of the plastic on the original piece and all is well. You should, however, unhook the battery and let the ECU relearn. And seal up that rip in the intake hose/bellows. Also, make sure to either use locktite on the throttle plate screws, or if they have the slot cut in the screws, to bend them open as to not loosen from vibration. I forgot to do that and it came loose within a week. I was fortunate the screws didn't come completely out and become ingested. You can tell the plate has come loose when the throttle gets sticky and will idle too high at times.
Good luck.

I drive the NA version and i cant wait to complete this mod. Instead of replacing the entire throttle plate i'll do what you done and i'll file down the white plastic piece.

Well I took it out the throttle body and replaced, making sure the gasket was secure and keeping the battery unhooked for awhile and then stepping on the brake peddle and it runs fine now. I got a check engine light though yesterday but I am going to attribute that to the rip in the air intake hose. I have another hose on order and hopefully that will be the end of it. I don't know what was making it start and stall so badly the first time but I guess all's well that ends well.
