Installing Blitzsafe AUX adapter on xc70

I am trying to install the Blitzsafe auxiliary adapter into my 2000 XC70 volvo. I have a SC-186 head unit which means it should work. The other day I got the adapter working, however, it seemed to drain my battery; I had to jump start the car. It turns out my battery was fairly old (2006) so I got a new one today. Now I am going to try and re-install the adapter. The adapter plugs into the cd changer port and then also needs +12v to work. I tapped into one of the green cords that has a brown stripe on the back of my radio, which got it working before but also seemed to drain my battery... Anyways the guy at the volvo shop warned me that I need to tap into the wire that doesn't drain when the car turns off so I don't drain the battery. Does anyone have expertise with the SC-186 wiring? Did I tap into the right wire before and my old battery was the problem?

The two Green/Brown wires are connected straight to the battery.
They provide power constantly whether the key is on or not.

You want the Yellow/Violet next to one of those Green/Browns.
It's set up to go on and off with the key. ( If you have a meter,
you can confirm that before you hook it up. If not, watch for the
sales on basic DMM's at Sears. A meter is a good thing to own. )

I rarely do this kind of electrical work so I don't think I want to buy a volt meter. But you are fairly certain the yellow/violet is the proper one? Don't want to end up with another drained battery...

Volt meters are $10. Once you get one you'll use it all the time.
