aw50-42le turbo and non turbo .

Gday,this forum has helped me out many a time without contributing anything myself and i've searched through the site to no avail.I have a 1/99 v70 na wagon VIN# YV1LW55B6X2548676 with a aw50-42le serial # 98FW513871.The box has issues.I could get my hands on a low km 98 s70 t5 aw50-42le which i know won't work because of turbo final drive ratio and etm issues.My question is would i be able to swap over the clutch sets and valve body/solenoids from the good t5 box into my dark grey burnt rooted box.The reason being i don't have the funds to buy a overhaul kit and solenoid valve body job.

I think I already offered a used transmission to him that was originally on my 99V70 non turbo. Dave recontact me so we can arrange something as your email has dropped out of sight now.

Dave and I spoke at length about his transmission issue yesterday. He had previously used me to reprogram a used ETM that was incorrectly paired to his car so when he called his number came up on my address book.

His V70 is a 1999 Denso with 4 speed auto. It has less than 200k kilometres on the dial. When his wife was driving it one day the flashing arrow came up and car went into limp mode and was starting off in 3rd gear. She couldn't reset it as subsequent restarts would clear it initially then end up in limp again. He now has about 3 different codes from the TCM. Incorrect gear ratio and a couple of others like VSS signal. They don't clear and return immediately even when the gear lever is rowed when idling.

Dave first suspected the PNP so he reworked the contacts but he says that the copper tracks looked worn through as though the main central nut (24mm I think) had been overtightened.

Since his wife drove that trip home (about 80kms) he can't get the fluid clean after about 12 litres of fluid. That looks bad as Dave says the fluid was always clean.

He is trying to find out if he can use a '98 T5 auto box but I think he'll need to swap the final drive and the valve body from his 99 auto as well as the speed sensors to prevent errors. Dave was a mechanic in.a previous life so he isn't phased by the swapping of internals.

I suggested that the TCM could be faulty and I'll try to get a used one off a '99 wreck here in Melbourne.

If anyone has a useful thought on this problem let's hear it as the car is off the road and he obviously needs transport for his wife. Many thanks.

cheers again Mike.Just another related question, sort of.I also have the possibility in the short term of getting my hands on a complete 97 s70 5 speed manual set up.I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and thought my 99 v70 with etm was a me7 system.I emailed ARD about a me7 ecu manual conversion,which could be sorted out no worries by them.They were however doubtful my 99 v70 was me7 and they were right as Mike has correctly informed me it's a denso system which seems unique to 99/00 na v70/s70s.Is anyone able to re program,not sure if that's the right definition,the denso ecu to be able to still talk to the car with the manual conversion without goin berserk .I've got a mid 90s beemer which i converted to manual bypassing the tcm and pnp,rewiring reverse lights,cruise control etc and until i installed a "manual" chip in the motronic 404 ecu it still drove well just throttle acted like a auto car on gear changes.I understand i can't just put a chip in the denso ecu, it's far more sophisticated, well i think it is without really knowing to much about it .So can anyone reconfigure the denso ecu? Sorry for sounding so convoluted just if auto repair turns into a dogs breakfast i might have another option and i really like manuals in any case.

Crap...I've been calling my 1999 V70 M an ME7 system for about 4 years on this Forum....have been contributing to the deliquincy of the Internet?

I think all you need is a Denso manual ECM from '99 (which doesn't have the CVVT control unilke the Denso 2000 MY)

Search out there on intetnational forums??
