Hello Everyone.
I'm going to be doing the oil change on my 1999 S70 in the next couple of weeks. Since the time I have owned this car for I have only used Moble one and Castrol full synthetic oil. Both of the high milege version. I am now thinking of trying out the Valvoline Maxlife full synthetic high milege oil. Just want to know what kind of oil everyone uses on there P80 Volvos.
What Brand of oil does everyone use on their P80 Volvo.

Whichever full synthetic is on sale at Walmart... (Though, can't for the life of me bring myself to use their SuperTech line.)

Amsoil is a wondrous, glorious oil I've heard. So is LiquiMoly, Pentosin, Quartz, Bizol...
If you want crazy oil info, head on over to https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php. Those guys are nuts about oil.

I use full synthetic 10W40, any name brand I can find for a decent price in the 5qt bottles. Unfortunately, I have a tough time finding it. Sometimes walmart has it and sometimes it doesn't. 10W40 in full synthetic is rare, apparently. The 10W40 cut my oil consumption by quite a bit and the full synthetic greatly reduced the frequency of oil changes I need to do.
If I can find it I prefer Mobil 1. Valvoline and Castrol would be my second choices but still OK.

I normally use Mobil 1 5-40 or 10-40 depending on the season.
Right now I'm trying out the Rotella T6 5-40.
Both of those are synthetic oils and I pair them up with a Mann filter.

I've been using the 10/30 super tech for a few years in all three. I also use the same 10/30 in my 22hp and 15hp pressure washers. Those get run hard and I haven't had any burning or other issues with it.

Matty Moo, you notice any difference since you made the switch to SuperTech? Those six/seven dollars... Almost a decent six-pack if you ask me. I'm due for an oil change towards the end of the month, maybe I should give it a try.Matty Moo wrote:I've been using the 10/30 super tech for a few years in all three.
