Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

I have split your post from the original thread as the question was different.

It is on the right hand side of the engine as in the attachment:

If you need instructions for its replacement post back.

Bill, Thank you very much for the diagram! I'd certainly welcome the instructions if you would like to post them. It is an 04 T6

Well I made it this far but for the life of me can't figure out how to get the timing belt cover off. Even with it off I'm not sure I can get to the Tstat behind the belt.

Am I correct in thinking you couldn't download the attachment?

I have just done it three times to check and it is OK.

You need a weatherstrip tool to get the timing cover off. You can either buy one or make it yourself from strong plastic strip.

If you are still having trouble downloading the attachment let me know and I shall email a copy.

No, I downloaded the attachments and have printed them out. I think the issue for me is that there is no screw attaching the front timing cover. There is apparently a small coolant line that needs to be disconnected so the cover can be removed and I'm not positive that even with the cover off the thermostat will be exposed. Am I going to have to deal with the timing belt at all?

I see that this small coolant line needs to be removed from a plastic nipple. The nipple appears to be an elbow. I think the nipple needs to come out in order to get the timing belt cover over it but I am not sure how to do it. What should be a simple job..... :(

How long does it take to do this job? I had someone quote 8 hours? I've read elsewhere that it should only take 1-2 hours

Also, where did you get your parts from?
