MAP sensor removal '08 XC70 3.2

I am getting a lot of MAP codes. I have tried to remove the MAP sensor without any luck. I can reach it by hand but the that obscures observation. So, a few questions. If I turn it about 90 degrees clockwise, it seems to loosen; is it just a matter of pulling. Are there items I should remove, such as the intake manifold, in order to reach it.

So, is there an approved methodology?
