I have a warped air filter box top too. 07 v70 2.5t Bought another one on Ebay and it also has the same warp - back middle prong not fitting the slot. Could you share a photo of how you shimmed it closed ?

Pull that out, warm it up with a hair dryer , and straighten it out. That’s probably bent by improper installation of the lid.

that is normal mine had it also, i drilled a small hole and put a long thin screw in there. Actually that box fits together really badly, French design i suspect.

You have to angle that into the slot and then push down. You have to make sure the filter is sitting properly into the box also. The filter will automatically be slotted into the groove of the cover and seal / seat properly. Currently the filter is not sealing / fitted in the cover's groove. The cover will automatically spread out and with the heat from the engine bay should form and fit easier and better the next time you change the filter.

for what its worth, this is my airbox repair .. Not the best photo but the filter is nicely sealed, That tab stops the lid from lifting up but does nothing to stop the the box from pushing out, i just pushed it back and drilled a small hole and fitted a long bolt or self tapping screw. I etched a "remove screw" just incase . Its been several years and the washable filter gets cleaned regularly. Theres no longer a warp thanks to engine heat when the lid is removed, so the pressure on the screw is very little.
