SRSmessage '02 xc70
Looking at another Volvo, an '02 xc70. It has the SRS hazard message on. Working without VIDA is there any practical method to find the fault?

A good high end reader will give you the SRS codes which will point you to the component in question but VIDA is king or Queen in our house.
Autel 800 series or the tablet will read and clear codes from the air bag module

In MA theres a slew of volvos for sale , none have srs problems,
For me its a deal breaker, considering they could get the SRS light turned off for less than $150, so why didn't they.

Greetings: Previous owner on my 2005 XC70 had the drivers side VIC (Volvo Inflatable Curtain) deployed and just cut the wires, did not have repaired. I need help, looking to add the 2.5K ohm resistor without pulling the console apart to shut off the SRS light.

I would suggest to go to a local u-pull yard and get yourself a proper airbag(may need to become a buddy-buddy with sales person ir wrap it in other big part since i believe airbags are not permitted for resale technically..but you can always buy one for "project" or off the car that is for parts by owner). Also go get your recall for driver's airbag after that at dealer for free.

I would try locating the wires, either in the A or B pillar, disconnect the battery and discharge phantom voltage.
An interactive circuit diagram in allData might help.
You can also try this resource, I only glanced at it but it might give you enough to start looking..

Think about it, if the bag blew then the wires would be right there, I would have chopped them at that point rather than go looking for the SRS controller.... which I believe is under the seat (drivers seat?).
If it is in the console thats no big deal, a few screws, had to remove mine to install new rear brake cables.
It looks like the wiring is in the B pillar. Maybe they pulled the impact sensor.
