SWM audio controls not working?

Post by dikidera »

On my S60 2005 I have had an issue with the audio controls on the steering wheel. The volume up and down buttons dont seem to work and also station change. I replaced my HU650 because of the dreaded FM issue, the controls seems to have worked in the beginning now they are on the fritz. After shutting off the car for a bit(10 minutes) I inserted the key and tested the controls again, for some reason holding the Volume up/down buttons caused the radio to enter some "search" mode but still failed to control volume?

Is this a SWM issue, or is the replacement HU650 starting to bug out? The Cruise buttons work flawlessly.

Another thing for the laughs, if I press on the volume up or down buttons very very hard, the car honks.

I think this is a SWM issue. Ensure that the connections to the SWM are secure. A loose or corroded connection can lead to intermittent issues.

Thank you. When driving over potholes I do feel something loose behind the airbag, I keep thinking something may be loose or broken there. The controls are again working just fine, I guess until they aren't.

If you push too hard you activate the horn button!
