VIDA 2012B VMWare Player Image

Post by bobthebuilding100000 » Sun Mar 03, 2013 8:03 am

Hello All,

I've made a VMWare Player image of VIDA 2012B. This means there is NO INSTALL needed, so don't need to setup a separate computer or worry about VIDA screwing things up. In fact VIDA runs on a completely separate (Virtual) computer from your main computer this way.

It's all setup and ready to go. I encourage you to mirror/send this anywhere as I don't know how long these links will stay up for.

VMWare Player is a free download from http://www.vmware.com/products/player . Note this means the 'untrusted' VIDA DOES NOT run on your actual computer, it runs in a 'virtual' one inside of VMWare Player.

The first 6 are 1.00GB files, the last one is 95MB.

You will have to use 7Zip to extract them once all of them are downloaded. The exacted file takes about 14GB of disk space.

Thanks I often fear what I would do if my install fails or if my disc becomes corrupted. This would be the ticket.

. . . I have a question about the 2012B VIDA VMPlayer images. They run in VMPlayer under MS Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 (32 bit and 64 bit) ? or a different version like, MS Windows 7?
The Vida files mount themselves after extracting? or is there an installer that is needed? Thanks for any additional info!

VM Ware player is compatible with Win XP, Vista 32 & 64 bit as well as Win7 32 & 64 bit

I have it running on my main PC and it works!! Many thanks

Once a car's VIN is entered the image changes and next time you log in to the image, it's all there.
It's a shame the image was installed with only 512MB RAM, don't know if this is adjustable

When VMware is open after you select the application at the bottom right you have the option "edit virtual machine settings". You can choose the amount of RAM needed.

Thanks but my slider and the RAM amount are greyed out. Perhaps in the paid version?

I downloaded the VM software from their website and did the update later. The version I run is free for domestic use.

First of all, many thanks to bobthebuilding100000 for the neat work and the d/l links!
The first 6 are 1.00GB files, the last one is 95MB.

You will have to use 7Zip to extract them once all of them are downloaded. The extracted file takes about 14GB of disk space.
One Pretty Dumb Question here:

Are all seven extracted files the required components to run the VIDA2012B on VMWP? It looks like 6*14GB = 70GB
What am I missing (again) :?
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
