From their page:

High Flow Downpipe - P2 S60 V70 Turbo FWD

A down pipe upgrade will significantly reduce back pressure, allowing the engine to breathe easier and thus provide much improved throttle response, torque production and good old HP. The exhaust tone is slightly different (throatier), but not really louder.

Our downpipes utilize a ceramic 3-way catalytic converter. Also, an integrated flex-joint helps to eliminate stress cracking and vibration. 3” mandrel bent stainless steel is used from inlet to outlet for highest flow capacity and long life.

The oxygen sensor ports are retained as well as factory mounting points and connections. Our pipes also include attachment points for the heat shield, an ipd The Volvo Specialists exclusive. Also included are new gaskets and it's compatible with the stock exhaust as well as most aftermarket systems.

If you have questions about this or any other products, give us a call at 800-444-6473 or drop us an email at [email protected].

Does the High Flow downpipe then lead into the Low Flow exhaust system and not really do that much? Is that a high flow cat I see in the photo, or is it further downstream?

3" DP's flow is about 40% better than the stock, and is the big thing for boost development, second to Stage 1 tune. Exhaust gases still has to pass through the catback, but at that point their temperature dropped a lot and the gas is less dense/takes less volume. Bigger DP lowers back pressure, less HP spent pushing gases down the pipe. In fact, having a more performant catback gives very little unless you have a really big turbo.

From IPD:

The high flow downpipe does have a high flow catalytic converter and it will bolt directly in with the rest of the stock exhaust. The wider diameter of the high flow DP allows more air flow which reduces back pressure. This means the engine and turbo don’t have to work as hard to push out exhaust air, and by the time the exhaust passes through the cat, the gases have cooled enough that the stock system won’t bottleneck things enough to negate the pressure difference. In other words, if you install the high flow downpipe into your stock system, you will still see a performance upgrade. We hope that answers your questions!
