I am not familiar with the volvos. My wife is interested in a new 2009 S80, but we need to know the problem areas. Don't want to buy something that requires twice the maintenance of our Toyota Camry. What are the issues with the 3.2 engine and 6 speed trans. This appears to be a Ford platform car with engines, transmissions and chassis shared with other nameplates. Could someone tell me what nameplates use the same parts. Any common parts with the 2010 Ford Taurus?
Mike

I've read reviews, and this car scores very high and has a recommended rating from CR. If you buy it, you will get the Safe and Sound warranty.

Mike,
My wife has a 2007 Volvo S80, 3.2 - 6 cylinder sedan. This is the same engine and platform as the 08' and 09'. Both the engine and transmission have been flawless and frankly, I like the transmission better than my Lexus.
I am not aware of any shared parts but if there are, they are more likely to be things such as relays and wiring rather than mechanical parts.
Also, I have two friends who drive Volvos and they each have over 150k miles on them and are going strong.
