Cruise control not working

Post by john0968 »

For some reason my cruise control has stopped working. When I press the button, it lights up on the dash, but any attempt to set a cruise speed and nothing happens. Has anybody had this problem and is it easy to rectify??

If it lights up on the dash, then I would expect the safety switches at the brake and clutch (if applicable) pedals are likely working OK. As the system is pneumatic in nature, it could be the safety valves that are also actuated by those pedals, or there may be a leak elsewhere in the pneumatic system.

In my car, I found the pneumatic tubing that runs from the front left of the car back into the cabin had chafed through under the airbox. I spliced the line with a short piece of rubber hose, and it's been fine since.
