Hi folks,
New here, got this 2006 XC90 V8 luxury pkg used about 6mo ago. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find this issue.
Need some help on a problem with the Alarm imobilizer not working. When we hit the imobilizer switch the light comes on. Then when the car is locked with the key fob, the light goes off in the switch and then the alarm goes off when the dogs move. (cool weather and window open some, don't worry...) The motion sensor doesn't seem to stay deactivated.
It did work after we got the car.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Bill

I think you have to press the switch with the vehicle on and then you have a time limit (maybe 30 seconds) to get out and lock it. Check to be sure this is correct in the manual. I hope this helps.

I had another look at the manual the other day and it is not very specific. Just press the button then exit and lock the car. It resets to normal after the car is unlocked.
I played with it and found that it didn't repeat what had happened previously. When I press the immobilizer switch, the light comes on in the switch, then when I get out and lock the car, the light goes out. I believe now that is normal ops. I guess they do this so a passer by doesn't know if it was selected.
