2001 xc transmission shifting

Do you have any ideas what might be causing the irregular clunk when the transmission shifts from 2 to 1 -- quite pronounced during stop and go in city traffic. Cause for alarm concern? Otherwise transmission works alright.

You need to post your mileage and the service history on the tranny (if you know it)

The car has 170,000km on it, and I presume that nothing has been done to any part of the powertrain, including the tranny. I know that the software upgrade was done at the dealer a couple of years ago -- other than that everything is original.

Upshifting is good in all gears, no delay, etc. The only thing which is bothering me is the slamming from 2nd to 1st when I come to a stop light/sign -- only happens periodically. The car is always warm.

There are literally a hundred threads on 2001 transmissions.
Most have either gone bad and have been repaired or replaced, are going bad now, (several) or will go bad in the near future.
