When you have inserted the lead in socket #2 or #6 turn on the ignition but do not start the engine. Press the button for not less than 1 second and not more than 3 seconds and release it. Now watch the light which will flash. Count the number of flashes. The codes are presented in groups of three e.g. 1 - 2 - 3 then a pause and if there are more codes you will get another series of flashes e.g. 2 - 1 - 3. When the first code is repeated there are no more codes stored.
If no codes are stored at all you will get a 1 - 1 - 1 as the first set of flashes.
Whichever socket you start in repeat the above for the other socket.
Bill.

I recieved code 1-2-3 for #2...and no code for #6. The engine no longer starts -it tries -but doesn't. I see sensor signal/coolant temp on chart-could this be the problem?

The code is related to the temperature sensor which is mounted in the thermostat housing.
Remove the connector and make sure the pins are clean. If you have an ohmmeter or a multimeter you can check the resistance of the sensor.
Don't forget to erase the code.
