good old 850.

Post by Japedo »

Well, my 850 deserves a little bit of credit this week. lol My wifes 01XC has the h1n1 and is only running on 4 cylinders untill i get a new coil pack. So once again the 94 850 with half a million kilometres keeps working great and keeps us on the road in the mean time.
The 850 turbo is by far the best car ive ever had I hope other people are enjoying there cars as well. There are lemons out there of all manufacturers.

I have to agree. The newer Volvos seem to have to many electronics in them to keep them as reliable as the old 850s. My 850 has 195K on the clock and it keeps ticking. Not to say she does not have a couple minor problems, but she has never left me stranded.

Yep, the 850 only has one coil pack so if it failed it could leave me stranded. But the originall one seems fine. :)

Hey my ol girl with 240k miles is still a beast and hitting the 100mph mark. of course its just a glt or id expect a little more than 100.
Nothing major gone wrong but a bad CV joint and a broken motor mount. but after 240k miles thats almost expected right?

Ya, the odd thing goes wrong with high millage, but a few buck here a few bucks there, it's usually not to big of a deal.

Ive got around 400$ into my 850 this year but most of that is replacing a cracked intercooler. Great high millage cars! With normall maintenance.

Lol true. I have to spend some $$ on a new bumper due to backing into something... bleh.
and the headliner is sagging so its time to replace that.

Trying to get ahold of an original volvo bumper so im replacing with original parts and not aftermarket. I try to keep her original since I find volvo is better quality then after parts.

havent had to fix anything ranging in the $$$ digits YET. new axle cost me $87 apparently those are quite cheap.

getting ready to spend some $$$ though.
New struts - 500$ *local mechanic*
New headliner including sunroof slider - 120$ *some guy who has a shop that does them* lowest price ive found.
New bumper - 60$ *texas auto yard* - 600$ *volvo*

So all said and done at least 700$.

My rear bumper was sagging from backing into a cavalier "accidental" and I built my trailer hitch and it holds the bumper tight into place. Deffinently a ghetto repair. oh ya and a little black tremclad to cover up the green paint from the cavalier. hahaha

p.s cavalier got the short end of the stick

Just wondering..... I was told on the comercial for the 850, they said it would do 150mph. Anyone remember that comercial? lol just curious. I know the speedo only reads up to 140mph. Just wondering if the guy new what he was talking about.
