850 n/a with 960 tb plate
i've been trying to find a throttle body plate from a 960 to put on my 850 but cant find one at my local pick a part. they do however have a v90. does anyone know if the tb plate will work the same? it's a 24 valve i6 but i know they made a couple of different sizes of these engines. any help would be great.

It is interesting that you came up with that question. I ran across this post on VolvoForums last night.

It is definitely an upstart company and their website is a work in progress - I have not used them for anything but they seem entrepreneurial.
Someone else here was looking for a short throw shifter kit and I see that they are making one for a very reasonable price. Whenever my clients decide to start to pay I may buy the shifter kit.

Yes the S90/V90 throttle plate is exactly the same as the 960. It will work for this swap. You can also buy the throttle plate at the dealer for relatively cheap. The PN was posted in the previous thread on this topic. Don't try to stick a complete 960 TB on an 850. It won't work.
good luck

What's DW? And was it easy to replace? According to the Volvoforums.com post from TCP their kit supposedly only takes 30 minutes to install.C@lvin wrote:I got the plate, two screws and throttle body gasket at DW for around $5.
I'm interested in this upgrade. No turbo for me

DW is Daryl Waltrip Volvo near Nashville TN (Franklin TN) (800) 689-0021 ask for Jamie or Don and tell them you are an MVS member.
You'll need to remove the throttle body - clean it up good while you have it out. I had never removed the throttle body before when I did this on my 98 S70, plus I had to drill out one of the screws on the original plate that wouldn't come out, and also I am slow so this took me about an hour and a half including cleaning the throttle body.
The same day, I removed the hot air flap/thermostat assembly from the air box intake pipe. The net affect of all that for me was a very pleasant increase in throttle response with no change in MPG.

Sweet, I'll have to give that a try - when I have some free time that is. I'm supposed to fix my odometer this weekend if the weather is nice and something else doesn't come up.
