we've been to anauthorized dealer repair shop 3 times for same issue. sloppy work, repeat trips for same issue--all have us wondering if it's time to switch from Volvos. the mechanic one one visit said "run it into the ground". it has only 124,000 miles on it and we love it.
now they said they replaced the small black cover on the sips activation trigger and when i looked today it's the same old broken one, and they've removed the reddish and white trigger parts as well!
what to do fellow volvo lovers???
worried about our 1997 960 wagon!!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
Unfortunately, I know little of the complaints procedure in the US but would ask, is the repair shop in any trade organisation to whom you can complain?
In the UK the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Retail Motor Industry Federation, Office of Fair Trading, some manufacturers and car dealer groups have set up Motor Industry Code Of Practice as a result of a damning report by the National Consumer Council claiming that 'shoddy repair work was costing the consumer £4billion a year'. Bad service from a member can be reported to the SMMT who will then mediate in the dispute. Garages not in the scheme can be reported to local Trading Standards officials who will assist in getting the work done properly.
A quick search has brought up this. It may pay to check further.
Bill.

You need a different mechanic. These cars will run forever with a modicum of maintenance. Ask here or on Swedish Bricks list, or any other forum and I am sure someone knows a good mechanic in your area.
