Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 1999 SRS service ugent light on, code 26, reset??

Post by Marke »

Hi Guys,
This is my first post so here we go.
I have a S80 1999 and the light and message SRS service urgent has come on.

I have done some research and did the following:
1. Press the odometer reset button
2 put the key in and turned it to pos 1.
3. After 10 secs the message screen has the number 26
4. Tried to turn key to pos 11 for a further 5 secs to reset meesage but it will not reset.

I think was caused the light to come was a very hot day and I opened all 4 electric windows before starting the motor.
I suspect this caused the voltage to drop and cause the error message.
We also have the occasional message 'low voltage' message but the car starts OK. Buy I guess the battery is weak

So my questions are as follows:
Q1 What is code 26 mean? Can't find this anywhere.
Q2 Can I reset the SRS light at home?
I read something about the battery being disconnected causes it to come on but you may have to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.
Any suggestion greatly appreciated. Marke.

I did connect the battery for 15minutes.
It then rained, so I closed the boot (where the battery is).
How long do you think took to open the electric boot when the battery is in the boot, disconnected?
Regards Marke.

srs-0026 configuration fault? srs-0026 drivers lap belt tensioner. srs-0026 passenger airbag stage1. i got this over at bsr website, and it dose not say notn about sips-airbag.maybe we should start with drivers lap belt? the thing is that it's getn cold here outside.

Thanks very much for the information.
I have noticed the electric seats doesn't move when you push the memory 1, 2 or 3 button but the seat does move when you use different remote controls.
The controls for moving the seat still work. I wonder if a switch harness has come loose under the seat?
I will post the same question on another site and let you know if I find anything out.
Regards Marke.

I triggered my SRS light a while ago when I removed my CD player.

Tried your procedure and also got a 26 in the message window.
It would be interesting if someone who doesn't have a light tries this, I'm not sure of this number is actually related to the problem you're having.

There is a code reader that can reset your light, it's made by BSR (as mentioned above in one of the posts). I ordered one from ESEtuning but just got an email saying they've temporarily stopped shipping them. BSR is working on a new version.
