I have a 1999 volvo V70 XC. i bought it used. It had a very strong coolant smell when I first got it. I took it to the Volvo Dealer and they fixed a cap that was leaking and pressure tested it on 2 different occations. They said that they detected no leak with that test.
The coolant smell has lessened but I still smell a faint smell. It is stronger when the heat is on.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how I can fix it. Is this dangerous?
Thanks

Your heater core is leaking. Relatively cheap, easy fix. No it's not harmful to your health, but it would be in your best interest to get it fixed as the coolant will start to leak onto the carpet and possibly result in a mildew smell, which is much worse than a coolant smell in my opinion.
