Never, ever, short or bridge the battery posts or terminals. The power stored in a battery can quickly generate intense heat, cause wires to burn, and can overheat the battery and cause it to fail (explode) if it is shorted.
If you want to bridge the wires, remove them from the battery first.
Then, touch the wires together using a short jumper wire. To be even safer, use a fused wire with a 5 amp or lower rating.
And, be sure there's no fumes around that can be ignited, there may be a small spark.
SRS light on

Welcome to MVS,
What port are you reading the codes from?
If the light is on you should have error codes from port B-5.

I'm reading the right port, B5.
I know there should be some codes if there's something wrong with system, but there's not.
Could it be in the wiring underneath the driver's seat?

Have you tried perform SRS module diagnose/reset procedure? That procedure is to disconnect battery for period of time and reconnect to battery while key is in position II (if you download the service manual you will see that procedure in details).

No I haven't. In fact, I've never even heard of that procedure. I've thought always when disconnecting/reconnecting (done that, doesn't help) the battery, the ignition should NOT be on -> keys in your pocket, or nowhere near the ignition switch.confused_al wrote:Have you tried perform SRS module diagnose/reset procedure? I've to test that thing tomorrow.
To what service manual are you referring to?

If you read a few posts back...
BTW, you're welcome.confused_al wrote:...the link for SRS part of the service menu (just skip the side bag part). http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/tech/servic ... System.pdf

Yeah, I just spotted that link after clicking 'submit' with my previous post. Guess I'm a bit impatient...
So, what I'm gonna do tomorrow is:
- Disconnect the battery
- Wait for a while
- Turn ignition on
- Reconnect the battery
Right?
I really hope that helps!
And Al, Thanks!

^^ Hmm, I was just wondering how that procedure differs from that when the battery is reconnected when the ignition is off? Or what difference it does to the system?Kimpo wrote:So, what I'm gonna do tomorrow is:

PS. For some reason I'm not able to edit my posts. Or maybe I'm just too newbie.

Hey,
I just got a 960 wagon, 1994 and it had the srs light on. I found this site and diagnosed with the OBD. Code 1-1-1 also. But I realized my light was going off when I was driving but would always come back on at startup, staying on until I was underway.
My theory is that it is a voltage issue. I confirmed this by revving the engine while in park. So, weak battery or dying alternator, or corroded connections. But at least I know my srs system is okay.
Thought this might help people withsrs lights on and 1-1-1 codes from OBD.
Cheers!
