Are you saying you get 1000 kms to a tank??? With mixed city and highway driving and gas conservative driving habits I average 650kms per tank of gas regular(cheapest) gas.
The 1000KM is a tank from full to empty on the highway as long as I am doing below 130 KM/H.

WOW that is AMAZING!


I haven't taken my 850 T-5 on any road trip yet soo..I can't really say what a full tank would give me. However I can obtain 650 per tank if I'm very conservative.

I run full synthetic Mobil 10W30 ..and soon 5W30 when it gets colder...

I'm wondering what fluids are you speaking of when you say pristine?

I have about 225kms on mine

How is the methanol injection working for you? How did you do it and where did you get the parts from?

Do you have a heater block on yours???

I have the Aqua Stealth system, a relatively affordable setup with a 200 cc injector installed after the intercooler, it is activated at a relatively low 3 PSI by a pressure switch(adjustable, need a boost gauge to tune.) My pump is located next to my washer filler nozzle, I also installed a fuel filter before the pump to make sure everything is clean. I run -40C washer fluid from my washer fluid reservoir to the pump, which is 50% methanol, 50% water. No question this mixture is flammable as I have tested it. The top end power of this car is amazing with that setup; though I don't have data to prove it. I also installed an LED in my interior that flashes when the pump starts up(this is nice, because I know if it stays on solid it has a priming issue of some sort, but flashing means the pump is shutting on and off to maintain the proper pressure of 140 PSI, I hooked the light into the internal solenoid on the motor and not on the solenoid that is simply turned on by the pressure switch). My exhaust seems very humid when I am using the system and smells nice to ;)

My tranny uses standard Dexron III with Lubegard Platinum, I will also be adding a Magnefine tranny filter. Yes I have a block heater, I think it is government mandated that every new car sold here has to have one, I have never used it though. I will also be adding MOS2 to my engine when my supply arrives. 5000 KM oil changes, 25000 KM tranny fluid change, 2 years for coolant, new brake fluid every brake job(two or three years), never change power steering.

throttle body mod, advanced timing, frequent fuel injection cleans, frequent trans fluid changes, kn filter, nitrogen filled tires to 40-44 psi, 5w30 mobile one. 32 highway (80-90 mph), 20ish in town.

2,5" DIY straighttrough exhaust
ipd MSD ignition coil + ngk V power plugs
10% higher fule pressure + higher boost

I get 27 mpg city
39-40 mpg highway
driving like a granny :D when i floor it i get totaly different numbers :twisted: but usualy i dont, i drive like a saint :P

Wow thanks for the detailed explanation on the Aqua Stealth system and you fluid maintenance :!:

My fellow Canadian that is very impressive mileage you are getting to the tank!!!! You are getting at around 350kms more to a tank than I am!!!!! :o :o ..It's almost like you are driving a hybrid!!!!!!

What do you think is contributing to such an amazing fuel economy?

Best highway (on trips over 200 miles, 68 MPH, with not 'playing'): 31MPG
Normal highway (on trips over 200 miles, 71 MPH): 29 MPG
City (Boston): 22MPG
Mix of small town city and Backroad highways: 24MPG

I haven't had time to evaluate my 98 V70 GLT.

I find it truly amazing that Volvo has managed to build a vehicle that varies so markedly (well, almost absurdly) on fuel economy.

Some of the mileage(s) I see listed leave me gasping in wonder and amazement and, in some cases, complete bewilderment, when taking into account the fuel economy achieved at such relatively high speeds.

Here's me thinking the faster you drove, the more the fuel economy deteriorated when, in fact, after reading this post it appears that the faster some T5's go, the fuel economy increases. Yipee!!

This leaves me squirming in envy at, what I thought was a fairly normal T5, turning out to be, by comparison, a gas-guzzler which only achieves a pathetic average of about 22 mpg - when converted from Australian fuel measurements to the American gallon (those with some basic mathematical appreciation will know what I'm getting at, unfortunately, the rest will just have to guess).

And beside that, I'm also hostile at the makers of my Volvo because I feel I've been well and truly dudded in this pernicious, vastly differing, fuel economy lottery created (knowingly???) by Volvo.

But then a sudden dose of reality hits me while pondering this conumdrum and I end up realising it all really boils down to just a basic expression of our ego or sense of worth which, put in very simple terms, says "I can piss further than you".

Now, having got that off my chest, I've donned my flame suit and am prepared for any vitriol or obscenities that might be aimed in my general direction. :wink:

I'm with you, dude. I don't get it either. Some people claim their cars do better than the American EPA window stickers. It's an industry known fact that those stickers are over estimated. 98% of the population will never see that kind of milage, because few people can drive within the perfect parameters that those numbers derived from. Especially in a ten year old car with a couple hundred thousand miles on it.

The Volvo 1999 v70 line-up boasted EPA numbers of 20/28 and 18/25 U.S. depending on the set-up.

Here's the jist of an article on EPA overestimates written by AAA....

LOS ANGELES -- Each year, Automobile Club of Southern California and AAA car review experts test new vehicle models under "real world" driving conditions and come to the same conclusion as many motorists -- the actual miles per gallon achieved during the daily use of a vehicle generally falls well short of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates. These driving tests found dozens of examples where vehicle miles per gallon of 2003 and 2004 model years were overestimated because of outdated 30-year-old EPA tests.
