Hello,
I own a 2000 V40. The car had been sitting, unstarted for about 2 weeks. When I started it recently the engine was throttling wildly in park and somewhat noticeably in drive (more problematic in city driving than highway).
I tried disconnecting the wire that hooks up to the MAF sensor, but there was no change in the strange engine throttling. Is it even worth trying to clean the MAF or should I just take it into the mechanic?
Thanks in advance.
R
v40 MAF sensor or another problem?

Did your car have a check engine light on? Was it running fine before you parked it? These cars are pretty good, only a few parts are common failure items. If was only acting badly during idle then of course the Idle air control motor would be my first guess. If there is a check engine light and it does it all the time (on throttle/off throttle), better to check the codes and see what it says.
