Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 T6 '99: A/C Valve location?

Post by laddyboy »

What's up guys? Recently I've heard my compressor kicking in and out while using the a/c in my car. It is now happening more frequently, when this happened on previous vehicles I owned ( eg. 1999 dodge ram) it meant that the a/c needed to be recharged/refilled . I ran into a small problem, I cant locate the valve for the a/c to recharge it. Can I get a little assistance in locating it, or maybe some other suggestions as to why the compressor is doing this. (The vehicle was damaged a few years ago near the condensor so I may have had a very slow leak ).

More cycling of the compressor usually does indicate a lack of refrigerant.

The attached shows the locations of the two valves. The one at the front is the high pressure. Volvo instructions are to use the high pressure valve for refilling but I have read of members who have successfully used the low pressure valve. The high pressure valve needs the refrigerant heated to increase its pressure. Without the correct kit the refill at this valve often fails.
