Fuel Rail Variation

Post by LA48340 »

I am replacing the engine (thrown rod) in my 1990 240 wagon. Found a low mileage 1993 engine (sedan) parts car..was running before it took a big hit in the front. I noticed my 90 has a small port on the fuel rail for I think a cold start injector connection..the 93 rail does not. Going to try and use the 93 complete intake..not sure if I can do this with my existing 90 harness? thanks..

This is going to take some working out as the two control systems are different. The '90 uses LH Jetronic with, as you rightly say, a cold start injector. The '93 uses the LH 2.4 without a cold start injector.

If it would help I can post the wiring diagrams for both systems.

What I am going to try to do is transfer the complete intake from the original engine with the c.s. injector set up to the new motor. This seems to be the only difference I have noticed. That way the 1990 harness should plug into everything else including the injector...I hope. The 93 motor is in great shape, no visable leaks and clean. thanks Bill.
